50-50 proposal

50-50 proposal

If you are sponsoring a project, we can give you the 50-50 ONLY in September. It means that for every dollar you put in we put the same amount, no conditions, no repayments!

This is as part of a follow up to David Kock’s blog:

Just six weeks ago the Australian dollar jumped above the one US dollar mark and I said some economists are tipping it could hit $1.10 by the end of the year. Amazingly that happened last week. Some are now predicting the currency could go as high as US$1.23 as it benefits from a weaker US dollar and the commodities boom.

Tourism and education are two of the country’s top four exports and both are doing it tough as the strong Australian dollar makes the cost of education, living and travel more expensive for foreigners down under. The government has to intervene before these crucial industries are permanently damaged. This week’s Federal Budget is its chance.

Treasurer Wayne Swan must make inbound tourism exempt from GST. All exports are exempt from paying GST except for tourism. An international visitor coming to Australia is classed as an export, but that tourist still has to pay an extra 10 per cent in GST on every component of their travel. The tourism industry would get a major boost if we dropped the GST on travel to Australia (airfares, accommodation and travel packages) booked by non-residents from overseas.
